Crochet Crazy

Hello Lovely Readers

I'm back and grovelling apologies for my absence. A huge, warm welcome to new followers Rae, Literary Ladybug, Jamie Hanna and and Angeliki - if I haven't managed to find the link to your blog then please do send it so that I can join you too.

I am now back to feeling human (as much as I ever am that is) again after my laser eye surgery last week and Mr Thrifty had his eyes done yesterday. I feel that we have been rushing backwards and forwards to Norwich getting check-ups and the like, leaving little time for other things.

My distance vision is now 20:20 which is wonderful, but I am having to use glasses for reading. They have said that should improve as the swelling goes down ... so watch this space. I hope it does! This has been the main reason for my lack of blogging - I have found reading or using the computer quite difficult.

As you know I started crocheting in January and I just love it. So I thought I would show you what I have achieved so far:

I am rather pleased with myself. This is just 6 months of crocheting. I also have a granny blanket that is very much "a work in progress."  This reminds me that this gorgeous book is waiting for one of my lovely followers... have a look at the tab above for details.....

I know some of my followers are amazing crocheters and give me such wonderful inspiration. What about other newbies.... how are you doing?

I am off to catch up on all the blog news I have missed over the last week... please accept my apologies again for my lack of commenting. It might take me a while to catch up with you all.

Love Mrs Thrifty

  7. Good news about your sight.. my brother had laser treatment last year and he says it's the best thing he's ever had done..

Wow look at all that crocheting, well done.. and all within 6 months of learning. As you know I've just taught myself and am a bit addicted to granny squares at the moment..haha will have to have a go at something different after seeing all yours.

Hope the swelling goes down soon.. take care.

  8. Great that your eyes are on the mend. It's good that your hubby has had his done too, my Lovely Hubby says he might get his done in December, it's the only time of the year that he has two weeks off work and as he usually is pretty much on a computer all day in the office it's the safest time to do it for the recovery period.

I wear glasses for reading but although I have a pair of presecription ones, I can very easily use the cheapo 1.5 lenses available in all supermarkets, I must have about 10 pairs dotted all over the house, Hubby shares them too when he has his contacts in.

I agree with Jane the best feeling is seeing that clock first thing in the morning for the first time without scrabbling around for your glasses.

Nice to see you blogging again.

    Have a good weekend.

  9. Lazer eye surgery is fantastic had mine done 10 years ago and feel it's the best thing I ever did, I hope both you and Mr Thrifty soon make a full recovery, I'm sure you will. I have terrible floaters in my right eye at the moment, apparently I have had a vitreous detachment, it's very annoying having these black spiders floating in front of my eyes but apparently it's just something I will have to put up with. I love all your lovely crochet I can't believe you just began in January you have done so well. Have a lovely weekend and please don't overdo your new eyes they need to heal, (mother has spoken haha )

    1. Thanks Linda and yes, I am glad I did it. Those floaters sound awful - poor you. I am thrilled that I discovered crochet - it is wonderful. Did you notice the little cape? Not quite finished but that was your inspiration! xx

  11. I'm so pleased to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Your photos are just bloomin lovely. I crocheted one (tense ) afternoon with my ma in law. I was proud of my little strip - but as a knitter it felt totally alien to me!

  15. Ooh, wonderful news about your vision....It must be such a great feeling to get rid of the glasses!
Your crochet projects are all lovely...I have it on my list to learn. A friend taught me the basics many years ago but I didn't keep it up and now I can't remember anything about it...but it is on my 'to-do' list. I just need some good videos to follow I think!
I'm off now to add a link to your lovely Giveaway...I'm sure that would give me so much inspiration!
Hope you have a lovely Sunday,

  16. I'm so happy to have you back! Congratulations on the success of your laser treatment; such fabulous news. I am most impressed with your crochet beginnings. I have yet to learn and not knowing how it works makes it all the more alluring!

  17. You've made some lovely things, especially considering you've only just learnt to crochet - well done! I first learnt to crochet in my early teens (a long time ago now!) but haven't done much for years, am just starting again now though. Good to hear your laser treatment was successful, hope the swelling goes down soon and your reading sight improves as well.

    Regards, Sooze xx

  18. I'm glad that your eyes are improving, I hope Mr T's doing well, too. You have set the bar very high with that amazing collection of crochet. You quite enjoy doing it then? I picked up a crochet hook for the first time in 30 years (the last thing I made was a doll for my now 34 year old daughter)just a couple of weeks ago. How could I have left it so long - I enjoy the idea of knitting, but it never quite works for me...but crocheting is a real pleasure.x

  19. I'm glad to hear that your eyes are improving as well. I don't crochet yet, I'm taking a beginner's class in August. But I do knit and I LOVE it. It's so addicting and great for stress reduction :) LOVE the projects that you've done so far. Are you on ravelry.com? You can find TONS of patterns on there as well. Happy crocheting!
