Work..

WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

(W. H. Davies)

Back to school for me today. Question: can I balance the things I love doing with the things I have to do? Redundancies afoot at work thanks to a huge deficit and there is to be restructuring, so will find out exactly what this means today. Fingers crossed it's not all doom and gloom..

Home again - and work left thankfully behind me. Today wasn't so bad and the students were pleased to see me, preferring me to the supply teacher they had named Mr Potato Head. Doesn't sound like much of a contest. A huge welcome to my new followers - thank you for joining my blog.

So, here we are and back to crochet.... projects moving on: Here are my finished pots - I even did the picot edging - pleased as punch with myself. They are a bit dark, but they are actually lovely vibrant colours; a glass jar of buttons and a pencil pot; an up-cycled yoghurt jar and a baked bean tin! I am also having a go at a cushion cover and it's going well and sooooo easy (let's face it, if I can do it, it has to be easy).

  2. Hi! That poem is so inspiring.. I usually only remember the first 2 lines... I'm glad your day back at work went well... good to get it over with isn't it? I am amazed that you have only been crocheting for a week.. I was only 7 when I learnt, but I just went round and round making a huge double bed blanket for about the next 4 years! Welcome to a very special club.. only lovely people crochet you know! I hope your son is well now too :)x
